Missed a CSA pick-up?
The best thing to do is ask a friend, relative, colleague, or neighbor to pick up your vegetables on the day you won't be able to make it to the pick-up. Tell the person to give your name when they pick up, and please let them know that they need to bring their own bags or other containers. Also inform them of the CSA protocol, which is that they must pick up everything the signs say, and then, if they want, use the exchange table at the end to do a one-to-one exchange.
If you can't find someone to pick up your share, you can pick up a missed share Wednesday at Henry’s Farm. However, you MUST text Henry before noon Wednesday at 309-613-2696 if you want to pick up at the farm. You’ll find your produce in a bag with your name on it in the walk-in cooler, and you can pick it up at your convenience. Here are directions to the farm, and photos to show you where the cooler with your vegetables is.
Bloomington/Normal members only: If you miss one week, you may pick up a double share the following week. To pick up a double share, please come during the final 15 minutes of the pick-up period, so I can make sure that I have enough left over for you.
Eureka, Morton, Peoria Heights and Peoria members: Each volunteer coordinator has their own rules for dealing with missed pick-ups. If you can’t pick up during the appointed time, please call or email your coordinator to see if you can arrange to pick up at a different time. If you can’t pick up, and can’t arrange an alternate way to pick up, rest assured that your share of vegetables will not go to waste. Whether it goes to the local food pantry, the coordinators’ neighbors or co-workers, or to our flock of chickens, somebody will eat it!
